Silk Fabric Care
Sturdier than its reputation, but it rewards a light touch.
- Hand wash cold, never dry clean. Cold water with a pH neutral silk detergent, no enzymes and no bleach. Swish gently and do not agitate.
- Rinse and press, never wring. Rinse cold until it runs clear, lay flat on a clean towel and press gently. Twisting breaks the fibres.
- Dry flat, out of direct sunlight. Reshape on a fresh towel and air dry. Sunlight yellows silk over time, and a dryer is never the answer.
- Iron low, from the reverse. On the silk setting while slightly damp, always from the reverse side, with a press cloth.
- Keep away from perfume and deodorant. Both stain silk permanently, so dress first and scent after.
- Wash it on its own. Turn it inside out and wash silk separately from other colours, so no colour moves onto it.
- Store it so it can breathe. Fold silk loosely in a drawer or keep it in a cotton bag, away from sunlight and never in sealed plastic.
- When a seam opens, send it to us. Repair is complimentary for every HACOY piece, whatever its age. Start a repair and we bring it back.
