Lycra Fabric Care

Polyamide with elastane for stretch and hold.

  1. Rinse straight after swimming. Cold water to remove salt, chlorine and sun cream, which break down the stretch over time.
  2. Wash cold on a gentle cycle. At 30 degrees in a wash bag, with a mild detergent and no fabric softener, inside out to protect the print.
  3. Dry in the shade. Lay flat or hang out of direct sun. Never tumble dry, which shortens the life of the stretch.
  4. No iron needed. Lycra does not need it, and heat damages the fibre.
  5. Reshape before drying. Gently pull the piece back into shape while it is wet, then lay it flat in the shade.
  6. Keep it away from dry cleaning. The solvents are hard on elastane, and a gentle wash at home is all it needs.
  7. Give it a day to rest. Let a swim piece dry fully between wears, so the elastane recovers its hold.
  8. When a seam opens, send it to us. Repair is complimentary for every HACOY piece, whatever its age. Start a repair and we bring it back.
