Seams and construction
A garment lives and dies at its seams. We look for clean, dense stitching, finished edges that cannot fray, and reinforcement where the body actually moves. Turn a piece inside out, anywhere: the inside tells the truth about the outside.
Look at the inside first. Seams sewn straight and close, with edges finished so the fabric cannot unravel, are the first sign that a piece was made to last.
Then look where the body moves: the shoulders, the underarms, the seat of a trouser and the waistband. These places carry the most strain, and this is where good construction shows.
The passport of a HACOY piece shows a repairability score out of 10. How easily the seams and construction can be opened and redone counts for up to two of those points.
When a seam does open, it is part of a long life. Repair is complimentary for every HACOY piece, whatever its age. Start a repair and we bring it back.
