Care, the short version

Care, the short version

Wash cool, wash less, air dry. Linen softens with time, silk stays beautiful when treated slowly, and every piece you do not tumble dry thanks you with years.

Most of what a piece needs is less. Linen often needs no wash after a day: hang it by an open window overnight and it is fresh again.

When you wash, wash cold. Linen goes on a delicate cycle at 30 degrees or cooler, inside out, with a mild detergent and no fabric softener. Silk is washed by hand in cold water with a pH neutral silk detergent and never wrung. Swimwear is rinsed in cold water straight after swimming, to remove salt, chlorine and sun cream.

Let everything dry in the air, flat or on a wide hanger and away from direct sun. High heat shrinks the weave of linen and shortens the life of stretch fabrics, so the dryer stays off.

Iron linen while it is slightly damp, and silk and cupro on a low setting from the reverse. Lycra needs no iron at all.

Store your pieces where they can breathe, in cotton bags or on open shelves, and keep them out of sealed plastic.

And when a seam opens, send the piece to us. Repair is complimentary for every HACOY piece, whatever its age. Every fibre has its own guide in Fabric Care.
